Description
A typical Bahamian still life. It has all the amenities of home; our gorgeous waters, a native fish (the Sergeant) and a Conch shell (pronounce "konk"). Though I wanted to make it a bit challenging so I made it under water... well... half-n-half. So I hope it's not so typical...
This painting was one of the considerations for recieving a free copy of Painter 11 (you can read a review here). And as such everything you see here was done in that program. The clouds and water reflection (or is it refraction?) were the hardest parts. I'm not a big fan of typical bahamian art but I was the last person to get my copy of the software and had some catching up to do. So once I had it installed I just went with the first thing that popped into my head.
Anyway I'm anxious to know what you think, so I've enabled the advanced critique option. Please make use of it

Overall Vision Originality Technique ImpactThe colors are great and do catch a true hue of the beach and the underwater is nice, I think it could be a little stronger. Still very nice. Also I think where the water line is that needs some work (maybe a different kind of blending) it has more of a sky effect in its background. The front part is really cool and hits the mark. Overall the image is truly magnificent!! The conch shell is brilliant and true to the colors it should be. The fish, only thing I see is a little more detail needed with the mouth and maybe the eye. Love the lines on it however and the refections on it are great. I love the bubbles, the starfish kinda flat but still adds amazing interest to the overall piece. I say just thank you for creating this because it really took me to a much need place when I look at it. I miss home in Florida. Beautiful work.
