I'm more of a fan of top menus - they keep things tidy and compact - to me, if you want to make your links prominent, you use a sidebar. But otherwise, I'd stick with the top menu.

Don't really matter, as long as it has unique ideas and looks beautiful, I'm sure people will use it!

Mood-bar is always a necessity for me though
