Feature: Hocus Pocus

Journal Entry: Fri Oct 5, 2012, 6:50 AM
When I think of halloween the movie Hocus Pocus always comes to mind. It's such a classic I can't imagine going a year without watching it. It also happens to be one of `shuttermonkey's favourite movies of all time, seeing that he was born on Halloween. We've decided to watch it a little early this year so we can get some other great spooky themed movies in every week up to his birthday. I've decided to do a feature for each movie so bear with me, or be on the look out for more journals featuring artwork based on some amazing movies!

I love the movie Hocus Pocus. I have the song that's played in it on my phone. :D

Come little children, I'll take thee away into a land of enchantment~

Oh how I love the... creepy? aura of tat song as the witch sings it. I haven't seen it in so long, I'm hoping I can see it again soon!

I think my favorite Halloween movie from my childhood is Worst Witch: [link] because Tim Curry is awesome! :D It was so cheesy.

Well, I wasn't allowed to watch horror movies. Though I snuck and watched a few. Like Poltergeist. I've actually never seen Nightmare on Elm Street. Though, now, horror is one of the main genres I watch, oh the irony. It's my sister's fault. When she was 4 she saw the Wizard of Oz and had nightmares for two weeks, so Mom forbade us thereafter to watch horror or scary movies. We weren't allowed to celebrate Halloween for many years either. I didn't see The Wizard of Oz until I was about 19, and Willy Wonka when I was 20-21.

So now, Halloween is my favorite holiday and zombies are awesome. :giggle: I saw RHPS when I was 15, bought the audio tape soundtrack, which I listened to every day before and after school on my walkman. And of course, I joined the fan club and had a Tim Curry Frank N. Furter poster on my wall (as an adult). I own a copy of the manuscript somewhere in my boxes of stuff. I dressed up as Columbia for Halloween in 1996. I even had the short red hair. She's my favorite character, and I always sang all her lines. As a waitress at a pool hall, for karoake night, I sang "Touch-a touch-a touch me" and raked in a lot of tips that night. I still have yet to see a live performance of Rocky Horror Picture show, I always missed it whenever it was playing in my area. Life goal.
