Vexel: Not a vectorI've been hearing of some confusion going around and read more about it in Jules1983's journal. I'd like to help explain just what makes vexel art different from vector art.Vexel: Not a vector by taho
Key Word: Pixel
When understanding the difference between vexels and vectors, there is mainly one term you need to keep in mind: pixel. Why pixel you ask?
Pixels are exclusive to vexel art and are non-existent in the vector world. Vexels, you see, are raster images that are formed by a series of these individual squares we call pixels. If you take a raster image, a JPEG for example, and resize it beyond its resolution, you will see these pixels. Other way of determining resolution are done via the metric system or by DPI (dots per inch).
Scalable and Non-Scalable
Everything we've discussed so far is totally irrelevant to vector art. If you take a vector piece and zoom it in, it will retain its original dimensions. We refer to this characteristic as 'scalable'. Unlike vectors, raster images
Suggester Feature | Volume NineThe Traditional Art Gallery on deviantART ranges wide with thousands of deviations. Without the help of suggestions, I may never have seen some of these brilliant pieces (and perhaps - neither would you). Herein lies a Feature Series, done in groups of ten of all the deviants who've sent the suggestions that I've DD'd since the beginning of my tenure as a Traditional Art GM.Suggester Feature | Volume Nine by limnides

Community Projects: June - National Candy MonthOh yes folks you read right.. This month we pay homage to the wonderful delicacy loved by the Sweet Tooth afflicted worldwide, candy!Community Projects: June - National Candy Month by PurpelBlur
It is fascinating how such a thing that is basically sugar and water is a basic part of most, if not all, holidays and even every day life. When was the last time you gave in to temptation and had a piece or more? Perhaps a week or a day or heck a second ago. Yes, I see that wrapper!
The temperature at which the sugar and water are combined is the difference between hard and chewy. High temperatures make for hard candies; medium creates soft; low becomes chewy.
If you have any Literary or Visual art work dedicated to any candy you are welcome to submit these to Community Projects > Holidays > National Candy Month

The Shape of Things to ComeYou want change on DeviantArt. Everyone here has something they would change. We do listen and, yes, we can’t get everything done. Still, as a community, with any change we change together because we are all here together.spyed
We found major talent to join the DeviantArt team this year to help us assume responsibility for major change and deliver on it. In return, we will be calling on the whole community to exercise its responsibility of continuing to shape DeviantArt into the place where the global undercurrent of creativity feeds the future of popular culture.
DeviantArt is as binary as it is digital in its platform. We serve equally those who produce art as those who need to see art and engage with it. Creating the undercurrent is a function of tools as much as it is a function of community activity. Getting these two to work in unison has always been the secret sauce of DeviantArt – and every recipe for the sauce begins
